How to update your BIOS (Flashback Method)Updated 6 days ago

BIOS Flashback is a feature on some modern motherboards that allows you to update the BIOS without requiring a CPU, RAM, or graphics card to be installed. This is especially useful when installing a newer processor that the out-of-the-box BIOS doesn’t support or when troubleshooting a system that won’t boot.

This guide will help you prepare for what is needed to do the job and links to detailed instructions for each major motherboard manufacturer are below.

⚠️ Important: Using an incorrect BIOS file or interrupting power during the update can cause damage to your motherboard. Always double-check your exact motherboard manufacturer model and follow the steps carefully.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • The exact manufacturer and model of your motherboard
  • A USB thumb drive formatted to FAT32 (1GB or higher)
  • Working PC to download the BIOS update file and set up the flash drive
