How to uninstall and reinstall Armoury CrateUpdated a month ago
If you're having trouble with ASUS Armoury Crate—maybe certain features aren’t working right, your RGB lighting isn’t syncing properly, or the app is crashing—it might be time for a fresh install. Don’t worry, this is a common fix and easier than it sounds!
To make sure everything gets removed cleanly, ASUS offers an official uninstall tool that does a thorough job of wiping out all components of Armoury Crate. This helps prevent leftover files from causing issues during reinstallation. Whether you're troubleshooting a persistent bug or just starting fresh, using the uninstall tool is the best way to go.
STEP ONE: DOWNLOAD THE UNINSTALL TOOL
Go to the ASUS Armoury Crate Support Page
Under “Utilities: Armoury Crate”, select “show all” to expand the available download options
Locate and download “Armoury Crate Uninstall Tool”
STEP TWO: RUN THE UNINSTALL TOOL
After the Armoury Crate Uninstall Tool has been downloaded, we need to run the tool so it can work its magic! If you have anti-virus software, it may block this tool from running. You may need to whitelist the tool or allow it to run if it asks.
Extract the folder “Armoury_Crate_Uninstall_Tool.zip”
Run “Armoury Crate Uninstall Tool.exe”
Once the tool has finished removing Armoury Crate, reboot your computer before reinstalling Armoury Crate
STEP THREE: DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL ASUS ARMOURY CRATE
Now that we have rebooted your PC after running the Armoury Crate Uninstall Tool, we have a clean slate to install the latest version of Armoury Crate.
Under the “Utilities: Armoury Crate” section, locate the "Armoury Crate & Aura Creator" Installer and select "Download"
Extract the folder “ArmouryCrateInstallTool.zip”
Run “ArmouryCrateInstaller.exe”
Once the setup starts, only check “Install Armoury Crate”. DO NOT check any other options for installation
Select “Start” to move forward with our selection and accept review and “Agree” to the ASUS Armoury Crate Privacy Policy.
On the Feature Library screen, check “Playground” then press “Next”. DO NOT check any other options for installation
On the Theme screen, select any theme that fits your vibe, then press “Start Using”
Next, you will get a notification from Armoury Crate about Windows User Account Control needing permissions. Select “I Understand”, and when Windows User Account Control requests permissions, please allow them
Let the installation complete, then select “Reopen App” to launch Armoury Crate
STEP FOUR: ARMOURY CRATE FIRST LAUNCH AND UPDATES
After the Armoury Crate Install has been completed, we need to ensure Armoury Crate has the latest updates before we use it. Otherwise, we risk the application not working properly.
Once Armoury Crate has reopened, press “Next” then on the “Log in to your ASUS Account” check the box for “Never show again” then click “Go to User Center”
*Please follow the instructions below closely – there have been reports of some application issues if not completed in order or correctly*
Select the gear icon in the lower left-hand side to open the settings for Armoury Crate, and select the “Update Center” tab
Select “Check for Updates” towards the top right
For the “UWP App & Core Services” category, select “Update” and follow the prompts to install the update. Relaunch the application after the installation is complete
Next, ensure the “Device & Component Drivers” section is updated by selecting “Update All”
Once these updates are installed, restart your computer
Repeat the highlighted steps until there are no more updates in Armoury Crate
And that’s it! Now we are ready to use Armoury Crate to synchronize Aura Sync-enabled devices and customize lighting effects. If you need a step-by-step tutorial on how to change your RGB lighting using Armoury Crate or other popular RGB software, check out our guide to customizing RGB lighting.
