How to download and change RGB using ASRock PolyChrome RGBUpdated a month ago
If you’ve got an ASRock motherboard or compatible components, Polychrome RGB is your key to customizing your computer's lighting. Whether you're looking for a clean static glow, pulsing color, or full-blown rainbow mode, Polychrome gives you control over every RGB zone on your board, RAM, GPU, and more (that's compatible).
That said, Polychrome RGB can be a bit finicky, especially with detection issues or if you’re running a newer version of Windows. But don’t worry, this guide will walk you through how to download, install, and use ASRock Polychrome RGB, step by step.
STEP ONE: DOWNLOAD/INSTALL POLYCHROME RGB
Head to the official ASRock support site here.
Type in your motherboard model (e.g., Z790 Riptide WiFi)
Go to the Support > Download section.
Scroll down to Downloads and look for ASRock Polychrome RGB.
Once downloaded, extract the ZIP and run the Setup.exe. Follow the on-screen prompts:
Click Accept the license> Next > Install
Once it finishes, launch Polychrome from the desktop shortcut or Start menu.
If it doesn’t launch or gives a “Device Not Detected” error, try running it as an administrator.
STEP TWO: LAUNCH POLYCHROME RGB AND DETECT YOUR DEVICES
When you open the software, it’ll scan for compatible RGB zones and components. You should see:
Motherboard RGB zones (PCH, IO cover, heatsinks)
RAM modules
Addressable RGB headers (ARGB)
Standard RGB headers
Possibly your GPU or other peripherals, depending on compatibility
If devices aren't showing up, update your motherboard BIOS and chipset drivers, then reinstall Polychrome.
STEP THREE: CUSTOMIZE YOUR LIGHTING
Static – solid color
Breathing – fade in/out
Strobe – flashing
Cycle – rotates through colors
Music – reacts to audio
Wave / Rainbow – animated, multi-color flow
Off – disables the lighting completely
Polychrome RGB does not support Aura Sync, Mystic Light, or other third-party software. Avoid running multiple RGB control apps at once.
That’s it! You now have full control over your RGB lighting using ASRock Polychrome RGB. Whether you prefer a clean, subtle white glow or a more vibrant, colorful display, your system’s aesthetics can now match its performance.
